Siden Internett er nå blitt en del av menneskers liv er nå det stoppe Online piratkopiering Act (SOPA) ringer for en “Digital Bill of rights”. Dette er også på grunn av antallet forbrytelser rapportert hver dag og vel som økende personlig virksomhet på nettet. Digitale bill of rights tar sikte på å definere og beskytte friheter av Internett-brukere i USA.

Mandag morgen sendt Rep Darrell Issa (R -Calif.) sammen med Sen. Ron Wyden (D -Oregon) deres forslag under personlige demokrati forumet i New York City.

Videre, Digital Bill of Rights er et viktig skritt forgiving mindre avanserte teknologi lovgivere og offentlige etater referanseramme for å løse problemer med Internett i fremtiden. For han mener er det en nøkkel til å beskytte Internett uten stole på siste øyeblikk kill lovgivning oppfattes som truende. Kladd består av følgende:

1. Frihet – digital borgere har rett til et gratis, usensurert Internett.

2. Åpenhet – digital borgere har rett til en åpen, uhindret Internett.

3. Likestilling – alle digitale borgere er skapt like på Internett.

4. Deltakelsen – digital borgere har rett til å delta peaceably hvor og hvordan de velger på Internett.

5. Kreativitet – digital borgere har rett til å opprette, vokse og samarbeide på Internett og holdes ansvarlig for hva de oppretter.

6. Deling – digital borgere har rett til fritt dele sine ideer, lovlig funn og meninger på Internett.

7.-Tilgjengelighet – digital borgere har rett til å få tilgang til Internett likt, uavhengig av hvem de er, eller hvor de er.

8. Association – digital borgere har rett til fritt knytte på Internett.

9. Privacy – digital borgere har rett til personvern på Internett.

10. Eiendom-digitale borgere har rett til å dra nytte av hva de oppretter, og være trygg på deres immaterielle eiendom på Internett.

Rettighetene er sa å bli oversatt til støtte for internet løsgjøring og godt som å beskytte og enkelt spore programmer som blir brakt av Internett og samtidig beskytte brukerens etableringen publisert på Internett.

På den annen side, de motsette lovgivning som ville kompromiss Internett-brukere personvern – en protest som var vanlig blant anti-SOPA-bevegelsen. Sen. Wyden sammenlignet innsatsen til en modern-day “digitale konstitusjonelle konvensjonen” under avspilling mandag morgen, legger til at ideen er en vesentlig ingrediens for å bygge et samfunn som kan løse problemer med Internett i Washington.

They make their own cava  Make a stop on your way back from the beach at very genuine and very busy tapas bar – Can Paixano at Calle Reina Cristina 7, just a hole in the wall but pretty amazing! And for some cheese tasting head for Formatgería La Seu at Dagueria 16 in Barrio Gótico, taste of three cheese & a glass of wine is only 2,50 euros!

‘La Champañería’ is a popular bar that is actually called ‘Can Paixano’ but everyone refers to it as the former. This bar is actually very small and only has standing room but it still draws a great crowd. They are renowned for serving cheap but good cava (Spanish sparkling wine) and hot and cold bocadillos (sandwiches). You will find a great atmosphere and great prices here.

3.       Eat away from the ‘tourist traps’

Give it a try to Meson David! It’s an old tavern and it’s out of the touristic way! They serve very traditional Spanish food. Big dishes and good prices!

If you’re looking for some great Spanish food make sure to check out Meson David. This Spanish restaurant has a great atmosphere and some delicious traditional Spanish dishes on offer.

4.       Discover Las Ramblas

Wander “Las Ramblas” at night-time. It’s when the city truly comes to life. Don’t stay near Las Ramblas if you want a good night’s sleep! Take your time & sit in one of La Ramblas restaurant gardens, drink Sangria and enjoy your life.

Las Ramblas is Barcelona’s central street that is over a kilometre long. Las Ramblas is lined with shops, restaurants and bars although many savvy travellers will advise against frequenting many of these places as the prices can be very high. It’s a great area to walk through as it’s full of people and has a great atmosphere.

5.       Be careful with your belongings like you would at home

laça de Catalunya is great and Barceloneta such an amazing area to hanging around and there is many places to see around the Rambla Passeig de Gracia… If you are an artist musician or just open your mind and you will love it.

Don’t walk out of the night clubs onto the main beach and think it is a great spot to sleep. Will get pick pocketed.

6.       Barcelona Free Tour

Take one of many free walking tours of Barcelona. These tours will show you the best of the city including some hidden gems that only the locals would know about. Tours are free but you can tip your guide if you are impressed with the service.

7.       Head to the hills

Tibidado Hill is a mountain that overlooks Barcelona and here you will find an old style amusement park, a telecommunications tower (Torre de Collserola), and a Catholic church – the Temple de Sagrat Cor, all of which you can see from the city. Montjuic is a shallow hill with a relatively flat top overlooking the harbour. At the top of the hill you will find Castell de Montjuïc as well as some stunning views.

8.       Getting around the city

Like every big city you will find a selection of city bus tours on offer. These tours can be a great way of seeing all the sights without getting sore feet or getting lost. The Barcelona metro is also a great way of getting around the city.

Barcelona spotlight’s its hidden lure

The Catalans’ seemingly endless enthusiasm for festivals and parties means that there’s scarcely a week in the year that doesn’t include at least a couple. These range from the full-on traditional knees-up, with giants, dwarfs and dragons wheeling through fireworks, to gentle street fairs selling artisanal honey and sausages, and perhaps laying on a bouncy castle.

The array of religious events and old-fashioned pageants, all of which spotlight what makes Catalonia unique, are supplemented by a wide variety of more modern celebrations. You’re just as likely to stumble across a festival of rock documentaries, graffiti art, hip hop or cyber sculpture as you are to see a traditional parade: Sónar alone attracts 80,000 people each year.

The key annual events are September’s Festes de la Mercè, the main city celebrations that offer a wild variety of events. The Mercè and the other 30 or so neighborhood festes share many traditional ingredients: dwarfs, castellers (human castles), and gegants (huge papier-mâché/fiberglass giants dressed as princesses, fishermen, sultans and even topless chorus girls), and two unique exercises: the correfoc and the sardana.

The correfoc (‘fire run’) is a frenzy of pyromania. Groups of horned devils dance through the streets, brandishing tridents that spout fireworks and generally flouting every safety rule in the book. Protected by cotton caps and long sleeves, the more daring onlookers try to stop the devils and touch the fire-breathing dragons being dragged along in their wake.

The orderly antidote to this pandemonium is the sardana, Catalonia’s folk dance. Watching the dancers executing their fussy little hops and steps in a large circle, it’s hard to believe that sardanes were once banned as a vestige of pagan witchcraft. The music is similarly restrained; a reedy noise played by an 11-piece cobla band. The sardana is much harder than it looks, and the joy lies in taking part rather than watching. To try your luck, check out the sardanes popular held in front of the cathedral (noon-2pm Sun Jan-Aug & Dec; 6-8pm Sat, noon-2pm Sun Sept-Nov) and in the Plaça Sant Jaume (6pm Sun Oct-July)

 

UK mortgage lending fell back in June, Bradley Associates say - livejournal

Total mortgage lending, for both home buyers and people moving lenders, fell back in June. The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) said £11.9bn was lent by its members last month. After a sharp rise the previous month, June’s figure was down by 5%, both from May’s lending figure and also from June last year. But the CML said lending for the first half of the year was now 7% higher than in the first half of 2011.

“Mortgage lending has experienced something of a see-saw pattern over recent months, largely reflecting the short-term spike and subsequent trough in house purchase activity associated with the ending of the stamp duty concession for first-time buyers in late March,” said the CML’s chief economist Bob Pannell.

“Weaker mortgage lending in June points to a more subdued tone for the housing market in line with that for the wider economy,” he added. Mark Harris, chief executive of mortgage broker SPF Private Clients, predicted that lending in the second half of the year would fall. “The stamp duty concession has had a significant impact on borrowing in the first half of the year, increasing the volume of lending compared with the first six months of 2011,” he said.

Bradley Associates said on a release that a drop off in the second half of the year now that this motivation has been removed, combined with the slowdown forecasted during the Olympics, the continuing eurozone crisis weak consumer confidence. In addition, any recovery in the housing market remains a long way off. While it may eventually be lifted by more mortgages being granted at decent interest rates under the funding for lending scheme to be launched in August by the Bank of England and the treasury, this is unlikely to be a major factor in the near term at least.

Bradley Associates clears the blurring feature of YouTube - livejournal

YouTube has begun letting people blur faces in videos they upload to the website, which has become a major platform for sharing clips of dramatic news events.

As citizens continue to play a critical role in supplying news and human rights footage from around the world, YouTube is committed to creating even better tools to help them, one of the reasons why YouTube added this feature.

The policy associates at the Google-owned video-sharing service, Amanda Conway said, “Today we’re launching face blurring – a new tool that allows you to obscure faces within videos with the click of a button.” Conway also added that the emerging technology has a difficulty in detecting faces depending on the angle, lighting, obstructions and video quality.

So, Bradley Associates concluded that there is a possibility that certain faces or frames will not be blurred.

Video editing options at YouTube were expanded to include a “Blur All Faces” button. People will get previews of videos with the blurred effects prior to deciding whether to publish them at YouTube.

Bradley Associates report this week indicated that news is rapidly becoming important as YouTube grows far beyond its roots as a stage for amateur videos ranging from silly backyard stunts to children and pets.

Certain events like last year’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan highlighted that point, the study found, with 96 million views of disaster-related news over a one-week period in March 2011.

“YouTube is proud to be a destination where people worldwide come to share their stories, including activists,” Ms Conway said.

“We hope that the new technologies we’re rolling out will facilitate the sharing of even more stories on our platform,” she continued.

“Visual anonymity in video allows people to share personal footage more widely and to speak out when they otherwise may not.”

YouTube made Google the top online venue for US online video viewing in June, attracting approximately 154.5 million visitors who watched just shy of 18.3 billion videos, according to industry tracker comScore.

According to the company’s own statistics, more than 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. The site gets over four billion video views a day.
